Mangosteen (manggis)
the "undisputed" queen of fruits
The first time you taste a fresh mangosteen you will wonder where this exquisite tropical fruit has been your whole life. And you are sure to join the consensus of farmers, explorers and royalty going back centuries who describe the taste of Mangosteen as the most exquisite fruit of the tropics. Combining a perfect mix of sweet and tart it has been described as a delicious mix of lychee, peach, strawberry, and pineapple flavors.
Mangosteen trees are extremely hard to propagate outside of tropical climates and can take up to 10 years before producing fruit. Even when successfully grown they are famously fussy in producing a crop of any economic value. Outside of the main production and export countries of Indonesia and Thailand, good quality Mangosteen is rarely found in any large quantity. It is rumored that in 1890 Queen Victoria would grant knighthood to anyone who brought her one thus earning the mangosteen the widely-accepted title as "the queen of fruits." However due to it's short shelf life it is unlikely that she was ever able to experience the true delight of a fresh Mangosteen.
Fortunately for us, modern advancements in post-harvest technology and refrigerated transport mean that you can enjoy fresh Mangosteen anywhere in the world. Our company strives to simplify the supply chain and export of Indonesian Mangosteen so that you too can enjoy it where ever you are.
''By popular acclaim,'' writes the British-born Malaysian author Desmond Tate in ''Tropical Fruit'' (Tuttle Publishing, 2001), ''the mangosteen is held to be the most delectable of all the tropical fruits, and it has been proclaimed their queen. There is no doubt about the luxury of its taste. It has won unstinted praise down the ages from all who have encountered it"
